ARNA Welcomes the Reports

of

Independent International Fact-Finding Mission

We, ARNA would like to welcome the reports of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Myanmar's  genocide and crimes against humanity and also for prosecution of military generals.

As the Myanmar military generals and rulers have never been prosecuted for their heinous crimes and brutalities past and present against minorities, it is crucial for referral to ICC.

Today, we regret that we become bystanders to genocide, ethnic cleaning and crimes against humanity. Under the watch of the international communities and UN, the Rohingya people have been completely destroyed. The ongoing genocidal attacks from 8 June 2012 have achieved- the killing of over 60,000 innocent Rohingyas, pushing out of about 90% of total Rohingya population and destroying of more than 400 villages across 13 different townships of Arakan (Rakhine) state. A research report entitled "Forced Migration of Rohingya" finding based on recent arrival of 650,000 refugees, found:                                                                                                                                      -An estimated 116,000 Rohingya were beaten when family members are included.
-An estimated 43,000 Rohingya received gunshot wounds when family members are included.
-An estimated 36,000 Rohingya were thrown into fire.
-An estimated 25,000 Rohingya were murdered.
-An estimated 19,000 Rohingya women and adolescents were raped.

It is horrible to see over six years now the remaining about 500,000 Rohingyas and Kamans in a ghetto type with frequent attacks, deadly starvation in Arakan (Rakhine) state and the survivor Rohingyas present and past arrivals numbering around a million of population enduring with natural disasters in Bangladesh. The extended threats of nationalists, extremists monks, gangs and thugs and creation of muslim free-zones  across Arakan (Rakhine) state and central Burma (Myanmar) still exist.

The military powered Suu Kyi government's authoritarian judiciary, defiance, brutalities, blockages and restrictions against Rohingya and other muslims remain widely active. The Suu Kyi government's  setting another shifty Inquiry Commission similar to the past commissions is not an international standard, nor capable of leading to the criminal prosecution of all of those responsible and address the root causes to end the cycle of violence and attacks because the main perpetrator are top military generals and the government themselves. This government has also achieved signing of MoU with UNHCR and UNDP, and repatriation deal with Bangladeshi government. All of these signing done purposefully just to negotiate with their crimes.

We are seeing that there is no concrete step taken to guarantee for improvement human rights situation on the ground and protected return of Rohingya refugees with dignity and rights.  It is therefore relocation of these a million of Rohingya, recognition of their status, normalization of the situation on the ground, therefore much rely on internationally  intervention.

For decades, the rejection of Rohingya is a common politic in Myanmar by unifying with  the authorities, monks, nationalists and majority public. We are still counting the deaths, destruction, attacks, rapes, arson and massive displacement day by day. It is  therefore Rohingyas would not be prevented from ongoing atrocities without a strong international intervention and establishment of an internationally protected region within Myanmar in order to ensure safety, security and dignity of Rohingya people.

We strongly support the United Nations Fact-finding Mission call for prosecution of Myanmar military generals.  We also would like to call the international communities, United Nations and world leaders to unite and support the neglected victims of Rohingya, Kachin, Shan and Karen by:

1) Taking effective and immediate actions onto the terror government of Myanmar and referral of those perpetrator authorities to ICC.

2) Achieving the Protected Return of Rohingya refugees into Protected Lands to guarantee the lost rights and dignity of Rohingya people.

3) Achieving the release of all muslim political prisoners from central Burma and thousands of Rohingya prisoners involving children mostly detained in Sittwe Central Jail, Buthidaung Jail and many others detained in police lock-up and military camps.

4) Supporting Rohingya themselves to eventually establish a Safe zone (or) a Statehood (or) Protectorate state (or) Autonomy state thru Security Council's R2P Resolution.

5) Cutting business ties, suspend military aid and ban entry visa of Ms. Suu Kyi, military generals and their family members visiting, studying and investment.

Thankfully,
